InsightOps is strengthening cooperation with regional media and professional organizations working to support investigative journalism and develop modern approaches to information gathering and analysis.
During a meeting with Sofia Skyba, Executive Director of the Institute for Regional Press Development (IRRP), and the Institute’s team, Volodymyr Teliuk, Deputy Director for Strategic Development at InsightOps, discussed prospects for long-term cooperation and agreed to work together on future projects.
The meeting also focused on the needs of regional journalists. Together with representatives of regional media, including investigative journalists, we discussed the challenges they face when collecting, verifying, and analyzing information.
One of the key areas identified was practical training in the use of OSINT and analytical tools. Modern investigations increasingly require not only strong journalistic skills, but also the ability to systematically work with open sources, verify digital traces, analyze connections between entities, and cross-check information from different sources.
For regional newsrooms, these tools can be particularly useful when investigating local businesses and public authorities, verifying publicly available data, identifying connections between companies and individuals, analyzing assets and property, and preparing journalistic investigations.
At the same time, it is important not simply to introduce individual tools, but to develop a systematic approach to working with information — from formulating a research question and finding relevant data to verifying, analyzing, and documenting the results.
That is why the potential cooperation between InsightOps and IRRP is focused not only on training activities, but also on sharing practical experience, expertise, and approaches that can be useful to journalists and newsrooms across different regions of Ukraine.
We believe that strengthening the capacity of regional media to work with open data and modern analytical tools contributes to the development of high-quality journalism, improves the quality of socially important information, and creates new opportunities for in-depth investigative reporting.
We continue to develop partnerships, share expertise, and create opportunities for the professional development of journalists and the strengthening of regional media.
